About

Hi, I’m Vegard. Not sure I really like the Vikings, but I do love the stuff they left behind!

My work as an archaeological conservator at the Museum of Cultural History in Oslo involves the cleaning, stabilisation and study of objects.

This site is a place for weapons of the Viking Age, the tools and techniques of their making and occasionally other topics of interest. My keen interest in the artefacts and a passion for amassing a digital collection of them enables me to perform typological studies and overviews.

Occasionally I practice blacksmithing, leatherwork or other traditional handicraft. Through experimental archaeology I enjoy making replicas of finds I have encountered during my work.

Former practitioner of swordplay and weapons training.
